GIFTS! & A Look at my First "Blog"

popcorn is back again T^T

and i have resorted to not writing in capital letters, unless it is proper nouns c: i've never liked capital letters for some reason. like i just don't like them. i have absolutely no idea why. i'm not sure why i ever wrote in capital letters to begin with, but i think it was just out of habit xd 

but just a quick little notice xp

in today's lil post, I'll be presenting Wild and Vai with a gift, as well as taking a look at my first blog i made when i was 8 :D it's an actual nightmare

let's get started!

first.. THE GIFTS. 

Wild's gift is one of her wolf, Citrus, and because she made a header that i referenced, she gets a gift c:

i didn't include the zipper tail unfortunately DX it wouldn't fit on the tail, and was about the size of the head by the time i correctly resized it.. i hope that was ok!

i also didn't include a scripted name like i usually do (just because of the size of the wings and antlers), so let me know if you'd like me to add it C:

next is Vai's gift! this was just a spur-of-the-moment thing because i remembered it was Vai's birthday! i was looking at her animals and saw one that was so cute i couldn't NOT edit her. here she is!

since i used a sleeping wolf as the animal, i had to loosely reference Vai's fox (who i called "forest") and only include a couple of items. i hope you like it Vai! feel free to add a background if you'd like; i forgot that the gradient white on the end of "happy birthday" would just blend into the background of the post -.-

now onto the main part of this post: looking at the "blog" i had when i was 8. i put quotation marks around blog because no one could actually see it. i used google sites, and it was connected to my school account which made it so i couldn't actually publish the blog on the web. basically, i was writing for nobody. i, of course, didn't realize this until after i'd spent a good week designing it :D

anyways, let's take a look. 

here's the header! pretty simple overall. as you can see, i titled it "Animal Jam Central" which i thought was GENIUS at the time.

this was the text box that greeted you on the home page. let's go sentence by sentence, shall we? "Hi there! I'm popcorn!" GAG. "This is my blog about, obviously, Animal Jam!" oBvIoUsLy. "I will come to you, readers," why did i say readers? ".. with updates, contests, giveaways, cheat codes (winky face)" oh my god, that's just beyond the term "cringe". "and SO MUCH MORE!" geez, popcorn, why do you have to yell?

this was the "Updates" page, where i only wrote in one entry :) feel free to read it if you'd like, nothing much to cringe at.. YET

here was the "Contests" page, where i had planned a whole amazing contest that i was SO excited about.. it was unfortunately never seen :( once again, only one entry.

this was the "ME" page! i really loved this outfit back in the days.. why? I DON'T KNOW T^T. and why did i say "yup". ewww. feel free to read the cringe if you'd like C:

Consider This is basically a "Question for the Comments" thing, but with a fancier name. i love hearing others' opinions on topics, so i just decided to include it in every couple of posts!

Happy 1-Week Late Earth Day!

To commemorate the gorgeous holiday, here's the post that was meant to be posted on REAL Earth Day.. heh heh. 

Unfortunately things happen, but I'm glad I got some time to work on this post today C:

I started working on an edit for Earth Day a couple of days ago, and I finally finished it today! The quality isn't great for some reason, so my apologies for that! (And Wild, I just saw your latest post as I was writing this one, and I didn't know you made an animal edit for Earth Day as well!)

I named this edit "Iris" which translates to "rainbow" in (Ancient! Thank you, Vai!) Greek. I thought it'd be a cute Earth/environmental name :)

If it looks a little rushed, it's because it is xD I didn't have time to work on a lot of the specific lines like I usually do, but I think the finished product doesn't look too bad.. I actually referenced the colors from the Earth picture in Doomy's last post!

Now, onto 5 Ways YOU Can Take Care of the Earth!

1. Conserve water - Wasting water is one of the biggest ways individuals impact the planet. Examples of conserving water are: turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth, turning off the sink while you wash dishes, trying to do full-loads of laundry and dishes (instead of half loads), etc. All of these and more are great ideas for conserving water!

2. Use as little chemicals as possible - All of the chemicals we use to clean, wash our and houses and vehicles with, eventually gets washed down the drain, absorbed into the grass, and into our water supply. Chemicals can do real damage to not only our environment, but to the animals and wildlife in the area. Instead of using things like pesticides and weed killers, try finding a different solution to pulling up weeds and pests. Learn about alternatives to everyday house cleaners, and you can even try to make your own! 

3. Reduce your usage of plastic - Plastic is one of the greatest environmental issues, and although it does get talked about a lot, I don't think many people actually realize the impact it makes on the planet. And it's not necessarily the material itself. It's the way people handle it. A study shows that only 9% of the items that we recycle actually end up getting recycled. That's simply.. unbelievable. To fix this, let's start trying to use recyclable, alternatives to plastic like the following: stainless steel, glass, cardboard, etc. 

4. Drive and fly less often - Almost all vehicles run on gasoline, a very harmful chemical and air polluter. If you're headed out somewhere, think how far it is. Is it worth a vehicle transporting you? Or could you walk or bike there? If it is far, is there an alternative? Walking and biking are not only great for the environment, but they're great exercise too!

5. Compost/plant trees - I grouped composting and planting trees/flowers in the same category, because they're pretty similar to each other! 

- Composting is when you place your leftover food scraps into a bin or pile, and after tending to it for a few weeks, you're left with rich soil, perfect for gardens and spreading across your lawn! 

- Planting trees is another great way to help the environment! Trees protect land from getting eroded, and they're an essential part of the ecosystem. Planting trees has many other benefits as well, like protecting water and air. So, if you have any room in your yard, research some trees native to your area and consider planting some!

I hope y'all had a good Earth Day! Make sure you try to do at least one of these things a couple of times a year C: I recommend composting; it's such a great way to get rid of food waste, without just throwing it away. (It's also pretty cool to see the food transform into soil XP)

Doomy's Gift!

SURPRISE! Here's a little Thursday bonus post C:

This post will be another short one, but like I said in my last post, expect lengthier posts in the near future! 

As the title says, today I finished Doomy's edit! 

This one was probably the hardest I've done, actually. The darn cat hat didn't fit on the panda head, so I had to do some awkward resizing until I finally managed to make it look decent haha X) 

The eyes were probably my favorite! I tried to match Doomy's eye color as close as I could get them, and it wasn't perfect.. but I think it looks ok :) And the eyelashes I was quite proud of. I did them freehand, and it surprised me at how not-shaky my hand was xd

Gah, enough of my weird rambling. Here is your edit!

Like I said, I'm not sure how I really feel about the cat hat. It looks a little clunky.. let me know if you'd like me to edit it further! 

(Also I hope I chose the right blue necklace. I'm pretty sure this was the one you meant, but there was also another that had a yellow encrusted jewel and a darker blue outer part)

Dogo's Gift!

Rare Spring Sun Necklace & Vai's Gift :)

YAY, popcorn's finally not late to a post >.< 

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the length of this post will be.. I hope it's somewhat long!

Now normally, I wouldn't just put a RIM post by itself, but I'm frantically typing this on my phone during my study hall, and I don't have anything really new to talk about :l

Nevertheless, I will attempt to make this as entertaining as possible! 

The RIM AJHQ has presented to us today is the Rare Spring Sun Necklace!

Hmm. I don't really agree with the.. everything here. This would be a great summer RIM (if they hadn't already made it one before) :) And the green sun is just.. no. EESH.

FINALLY, after many days of un-motivation (um, yes, I did just make up a word), I recently finished Vai's gift of her wolf, River! 

I hope it looks ok, Vai! It's a 1400 x 1400 square image :) 

I updated the way I made these with the help of Galaxymintz! Big thanks to her C: 

(Also, I know River usually has Nerd Glasses instead of the flower crown, but the angles with the glasses looked very disturbing :D So I changed it)

Anyways, next in line will be Dogo, then Rainbow, and finally Doomy!
